Secrets Carved in Volcanic Stone
Unlock the mysteries of Peru's stunning "White City" on a curated private walking tour. Nestled at the foot of towering volcanoes, Arequipa boasts a welcoming, sun-drenched climate and an architectural legacy carved almost entirely from *sillar*—a luminous volcanic tuff stone. This exclusive expedition takes you deep into the city's most guarded historical treasures, far beyond its elegant plazas.
Your journey begins by stepping into the extraordinary Monastery of Santa Catalina. Founded in 1579, this sprawling 20,000-square-meter complex is a literal city-within-a-city. Shielded by colossal 4-meter-high walls, you will wander through tortuous, vividly colored streets and cloisters where nuns lived in complete isolation for centuries. The exploration then shifts to the enigmatic Andean Sanctuaries Museum, home to Juanita, the legendary Ice Maiden. Exquisitely preserved by the freezing temperatures of Mount Ampato, discovering her story offers a profound, unforgettable glimpse into ancient Incan rituals.
