Your adventure encompasses all the awe-inspiring moments of the Amazon: scanning the Madre de Dios riverbanks for caimans by night, silently paddling a dug-out canoe across the glassy waters of Lake Sandoval in search of giant river otters, and walking 30 meters above the ground on a network of suspension bridges. However, the true luxury of this extended itinerary is the opportunity to delve into the Amazon's hidden botanical wonders. You will navigate the atmospheric aguajales (rainforest swamplands), learn ancestral medicinal secrets in an organic bio-orchard, and discover creative survival mechanisms in a dedicated palm conservation project. This is a journey of thrilling wildlife encounters and deep ecological discovery.

Essential details for your extended Amazon expedition.

Yes. The extra day allows you to move beyond the classic highlights. You will explore highly specialized ecosystems such as the flooded wetlands (aguajales) and engage with important conservation efforts at the organic bio-orchard and Palmetum, providing a much richer, educational immersion into the Amazon.
While Peru does not legally require it for entry, the Yellow Fever vaccine is highly recommended by global health organizations for anyone visiting the Amazon basin. Malaria is rare in the Tambopata tourist zones, but always consult your physician prior to travel.
To maintain a low ecological footprint, electricity is typically supplied by a generator during specific hours (morning, lunch, and evening), which is the perfect time to charge your camera batteries. Wi-Fi is either non-existent or extremely limited, offering a beautiful opportunity to fully disconnect in nature.
