DAY 1: Arrival, Trail System & Twilight River
Navigating to the Ecological Reserve
Arrive into Puerto Maldonado, coined the Capital of Biodiversity. After a short road transfer to the pier, begin your Amazon adventure with a 45-minute motorized boat ride splicing through the rainforest along the Madre de Dios River. You will arrive at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica, a spectacular eco-lodge set within Peru’s first private ecological reserve.
The Trail System & Cabaña Retreat
Settle into your rustic-luxury cabin for a nap or a swing in your hammock. In the afternoon, we recommend walking along the Trail System. Guided by an expert Inkaterra Explorer, you will walk beneath towering Shihuahuaco trees, tuning your ears to the calls of exotic wildlife. Keep your camera ready for sloths or monkeys appearing in the treetops.
Twilight River & Amazonian Dining
In the late afternoon, take our gentle Twilight River excursion to witness the jungle transform into a nocturnal world, spotting nightjars, owls, capybaras, and caimans. Return to the main dining room where an Amazonian-inspired dinner is served alongside a complimentary Pisco Sour cocktail. Retreat to your cabaña to fall asleep to the intriguing sounds of the rainforest.

DAY 2: Lake Sandoval, Canopy & Anaconda Walk
The Glassy Waters of Lake Sandoval
As sunlight squeezes through the dense trees, join us for an early buffet breakfast. Hike a sun-dappled rainforest trail into the Tambopata National Reserve. Board a dug-out wooden canoe to quietly glide onto Lake Sandoval. This serene ox-bow lake is home to the endangered giant river otter, red howler monkeys, red-bellied macaws, anacondas, and black caimans.
Canopy Walkway & The Anaconda Walk
In the afternoon, climb a vertiginous 38-meter tower to access the thrilling Canopy Walkway—a safe, 344-meter network of suspension bridges offering unforgettable views of the rainforest rooftop. After descending, enjoy the Anaconda Walk, following a 200-meter raised wooden platform over a flooded aguajales swamp to observe amphibians and unique flora.
Eco Centre & À-la-carte Dinner
Back at the lodge, opt to enjoy a fascinating daily nature presentation in the Eco Centre, or book yourself an indulgent spa treatment. Savor a meticulously prepared à-la-carte dinner served in the majestic main dining room.

DAY 3: Departure from Reserva Amazónica
Farewell to the Wonderland
With a staggering roster of wildlife—including 540 bird species inventoried on the lodge grounds—enjoy your last morning in this natural wonderland as parakeets chatter and agouti mammals scurry between the cabañas. After breakfast and check-out, embark on your ready-waiting boat for the 45-minute return trip along the Madre de Dios River to the airport.

Essential Recommendations
- Luggage Restriction: For safety on the motorized canoes, please pack only necessary items in a small duffel or backpack. Large suitcases can be securely stored at the Inkaterra office in Puerto Maldonado.
- Packing Essentials: Bring light, breathable, long-sleeved clothing to protect against mosquitoes. A reliable flashlight/headlamp and strong insect repellent are absolutely mandatory for the night walks.
